I first made a slipcover for a lampshade in my 2011 sewing book, Inspired to Sew. I've been obsessed since. Today, I make lots of pleated or gathered covers which are so cute and fun to change out. This week I made two covers from My Mother's Daughter Fabrics. I used both colorways of Hollyhocks.

This is for a cone shaped shade.

1. Measure the top diameter and length of your shade.
2. Cut three times that length amount of fabric plus seam allowance and leave room for hems at top and bottom.
3. I used my hem foot to hem top and bottom first.
4. Next mark the fabric and create the box pleats. I made my marks 1" apart. (illustration below)
5. Sew a top stitch across your pleats.
6. Fit the slipcover to your shade by draping it inside out on the shade. 
7. Pin your seams and sew together, right sides facing.
