Welcome back!
Be sure to make it to the very end of this post. We have a giveaway for you this very week and you don't want to miss it!
Let's get started
Today we make our first block pattern, La Fleur. I'm pretty smitten with it and cannot wait to see what you do with this block.
La Fleur measures 15.5". Big and lovely!
Download your PDF pattern right here. If you decide to print your pattern don't forget to print in landscape format.
In case you are wanting to know which fabrics I used here they are:
All fabrics used are by Bari J. And are they not divine? I just love mixing fabric prints, don't you?
Don't forget to post on IG using the #barijquiltalong. We want to see your progress!
A little more for beginners
If you need more help than the PDF pattern offers, I've made you a video. A very long video as it happens, with step by step instructions to making the La Fleur block. I've also included two other ways to make your half square triangles just in case you did not pick up a HST ruler last week. Enjoy!
You can also find a more detailed HST tutorial here and how to cut fabric here.
This block took me about thirty - forty minutes to make. If you are new to patchwork, it might take you a bit longer. Don't get discouraged. Take your time. There's no need to rush. Enjoy the experience.
Taking forty minutes, an hour, or however long this might take you may seem too much in your mind or maybe you feel like you don't have the time between kids, work, chores, etc. Know that it doesn't have to all be done at once. Cut your pieces one day, do the HSTs another day and so on, one step at a time. Set an intention of spending 10 minutes a day or however long you can squeeze in. Quilt making is more about the joy of making than about the finished quilt. Savor the slowness.

*Special thanks to my friend, Katie, for testing the La Fleur block pattern and making sense of my poor grammar. :)

I’m shocked that a beginner can really make this quilt. But I’m a daring soul so I will try! Can you tell me if I want to use your Wild Bloom fabrics to make this quilt, what is the minimal amount of fabric from this series that I need to purchase?
