the tinier, the more adorable, and that logic definitely holds true for the Attic Window blocks!

Let's talk about fabrics

I used a bunch of different fabrics in my 7 blocks, but since we are making them into three different sets, I kept each set matchy matchy.  Feel free to go even scrappier.

Each Attic Window block can hold four different fabrics.  

You can get Bari J. fabrics at these fine stores.

Tiny tip on choosing fabrics for these blocks:

Tonals are always your friends on log cabin style blocks (just like the Mod Tulips).  I like to separate my florals with a tonal.  Plus, they show up so great once you get your quilt top together and stand out.

We are making 7 blocks total:  One horizontal set of three, one vertical set of three, and one lone block.

A Little More for Beginners

If you need a little bit more help than the PDF offers, please enjoy this video.  I'm including a quick cutting tutorial for super skinny pieces.  Also, this video will teach you how to square up and trim down your block with and without a fussy cut ruler and how to make sure you cut your directional prints in a way that insures they end up in the correct direction.  No matter what stage you are at in your quilting journey, you are covered!

Tips for this week's pattern:

• Fussy cut rulers are extremely helpful, but not necessary.  If you do find you'd like one, they are available here.
• Starch is your friend!  Starch your fabrics before you ever cut them and you will find better cutting and piecing results.
• Don't stress if you find some tiny cutting errors.  It's easy to do with pieces so small.  The video covers how to work when things get a bit wonky.
• Chain piece!  I don't show you this in the video, but if you are looking to speed up your process this is a block that will go much quicker if you do.
• If you fussy cut your center square, make sure you do so on the diagonal.

  

I'm so excited!

We've got some filler blocks to add to the blank spots, some sections to build, but after that we will have a QUILT TOP!!
